SAPS KZN members from Cator Manor assisted by the Durban K9 arrested four suspects, aged between 26 and 35, on the N2 close to Westwood Mall for possession of illicit cigarettes.
Members from Cator Manor were on the N2 South Bound when they spotted two suspicious vehicles. The members called for backup and K9 members responded after which the two vehicles were stopped and searched.  Illicit cigarettes were recovered from both vehicles; the suspects were taken to Cator Manor Police Station where they were charged for possession of illicit cigarettes with the estimated value of R40 000, 00.
The suspects will be appearing in the Durban Magistrate’s Court today.
“This indicates that the police officials are not tolerating any illegal behaviour. It is hoped that this arrest will send a clear message that we will arrest all those who are smuggling illicit cigarette into our province”, said the KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner, Lieutenant General Mmamonnye Ngobeni.
