#DrugsMustFall: R3M DRUG BUST!

DRUGS with an estimated street value of R3m were recovered in the last 48 hours during two separate operations near the border of Namibia and at the OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg, the SA Revenue Services said yesterday.
Customs officials at the Nakop border in the Northern Cape discovered dagga with an estimated street value of R2.8m on a truck travelling to Namibia around 2.00am yesterday, spokesperson Sandile Memela said. The truck was carrying 12 beds and mattresses.
While officials were checking the beds, 23 bags wrapped in plastic were discovered inside the bases of the beds and the mattresses."The inspection revealed cannabis (dagga) packed in 23 big bags containing about 100 smaller packages each, amounting to 2 300 parcels in total. The estimated value of the cannabis, weighing 575.5 kg, is R2.8m."
This was one of the biggest dagga busts to date, Memela said. The truck driver and passenger were arrested.
In a separate incident, heroin with an estimated street value of R201 810 was seized at the OR Tambo International Airport in Kempton Park, east of Johannesburg.
A sniffer dog had reacted positively to a DHL parcel destined for Spain. "They then discovered four bags containing a powder-like substance hidden in the cut-out pages of a book. The substance tested positive for heroin," Memela said.
